BAMS stands for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. It is one of the oldest systems or practices in the medical sector. BAMS Syllabus

The BAMS course is dependent on the ancient and traditional methods of treatment in India before the western treatments came in. With time, the western treatment took over the traditional method. The western method gave quick results, treated symptoms and it was somewhere cheaper and easily available than the traditional type of treatment. But in spite of having all these benefits, it still has drawbacks, one of the biggest drawbacks was that western treatment has a lot of side effects. 

The BAMS course has a very lengthy syllabus and subjects that usually deal with ayurvedic methods of treatment. A huge part of the syllabus of the BAMS course is taught in the Sanskrit Language as it takes back to centuries. The course consists of both theory and practical part. BAMS Course Fees

The fee for the BAMS program is not too high. The average course fees for this course lies between INR 25,000 to 3.2 lakh per annum. The amount can vary depending upon the university and college you are going to pursue in the BAMS program.

As well as the fees also depends upon the prestige and infrastructure of the college. It also depends how you are going to take admission, either by government quota or management quota.

Private BAMS College Fees

For private colleges the fee structure may vary from 16 to 20 lakes for the whole program. It depends on the states and different institutes due to which the fees can vary.

BAMS Course Duration

BAMS is a five and a half years long course which consists of 3 professional years of 1.5 years each and the last one year is dedicated towards the internship or practical practice for the students.

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) is a graduation degree course in Ayurvedic system which is a traditional and ancient way of treatment in India. Doing graduation in the BAMS program is really a tough task in India. As there is a great competition for a seat in the BAMS program. So, before applying for BAMS, the candidate should know all the eligibility criteria to get admission in BAMS course:

  1. To pursue the BAMS course in Indian colleges/ universities, aspirants should clear Class XII in the Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) subjects.

  2. In most cases, the minimum percentage that students require in Class XII to be eligible for BAMS course admissions is 50% to 60%. Some universities may also have a minimum age bar as their BAMS eligibility criteria.

  3. A candidate who fulfils the above eligibility criteria has to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and qualify it. Admission to BAMS course is through centralized counseling based on the NEET merit list by The Ministry of AYUSH.

Bridge Course for BAMS

The bridge course permits Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctors to practice allopathic medicine to a certain extent at Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) across the state.

Under the National Health Mission (NHM) a bridge course was designed with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Further after some time a common Bridge Programme for Nurses and Ayurveda doctors was approved by IGNOU.
